Writer's Blog well yes once again
Haven't actually written anything for a short while now. The last time I attempted to write it took me an hour and a half to boot up the laptop downstairs. Not good! Now that the stall has finished in the Hart CEntre, my aim is to finish the book for Christmas. From thence I will attempt either to find an agent or post the manuscript to a local publisher. We'll see. I'm determined to finish the blooming thing and start on a new project. It's the time that's the problem. I won't give up!

Demise of the stall
The demise of the Purple Princess Designs stall sees more time for the writitng. The deadline now is to finish the book for Christmas. That way I can really sort out getting it posted off to either MacMillan or other agents and see if they'll be willing to publish it. Fingers crossed guys... it'll be great if it's taken, but I know I'm going to have to be patient and pragmatic about it.

Haven't written for a while
Just been too blimming busy frankly. Last week was a pretty shitey week one way and the other, which resulted in my losing the plot a little on Thursday. Perhaps though sometimes you need to. The upshot is though of course that the book still sits on the pc, not having had any additions to it for about two weeks. This is not good, and I must address this today.
I will get it finished, without doubt, and it's taking far far longer than I ever antiicpated, but it's fun, and I love the story still.

haven't blogged for a while
The writing is slow at the moment. Taking advice from the uni lecturer next door, so hopefully the writing I have done is excellent. I now need to move the story on to the witch trials and the full horror (oh thank you Wilkie for that gem of a phrase) of the result of the jealousy of a rich, spoilt man.

Now published!
Yup, I am now a published essayist, I hesitate to use the word author to be honest, but certainly an essayist. The book is the Encyclopaedia to Literary Romanticism, ed. Andrew Maunder. Check it out on Amazon.co.uk

had a really good day yesterday
I was alone all day, having decided to come back home from the old man's cycle race weekend. Had a really long bath, well rude not to, and then settled down to write. I achieved around 1,000 give or take, and have managed to move the story on rather than tweak the existing chapters.
it's slow progress, as I have limited time available, but it is progressing, and that's important. I am setting myself now, a deadline of this Christmas to get it finished. I need that deadline, in order to press on with it.

Had a big dilemma over the last few days
I did manage to get some writing done this week, today has been a bit of a disaster on the creative front however. I do feel that the story is coming together now, it's been very hard work with a lot of research, but I think it is far better for it.
some short stories abound, and hopefully myself and Caroline will be able to get our acts together and maybe get something to an agent in the near future. can't believe it's nearly winter again and the book still isn't in the state i'd like it to be in.
actually it's not nearly winter is it, it just looks like it out there!

not getting overly far
with the writing at the moment, just when you think you've got five minutes to get to grips with it, then something happens. After the stall day, I have two commissions one of which is now complete, the other of which I cannot complete until tomorrow. Also another dilemma, do I shell out nearly £200 for a stall at an event in London? it's a lot of money, but a potentially huuge return. This is no state of mind to be in when trying to write a novel I can tell you!
Still Cyprus looms in the near distant future! Yayyyy (very unacademic of me)

ooo haven't blogged here for a while
well, after my very small success, and frankly somewhat unsurprising success, in the writing comp on Facebook, I have managed to finish a short story, started last year, and have spent a goodly part of today on the novel. I'm still missing some links however, so I need to have a good old think about those missing bits. it has to be right, or it could be the worst!

The thing is....
that it's all well and good these planes going over all day every day, but it's really not conducive to writing. not so much the noise, but the fact that everybody downs tools and runs outside to see what's happening!
I'm fitter though!

Writing is so hard to do
ha, no not the writing itself, but finding the right space and time. It's difficult to write whilst a 100 and one other things are going around in your head. Still even if one can get 20minutes to 'bung' something down and then edit it later, it's better than nothing.
I soldier on.....

lots of writing achieved
over the last couple of days, it's been good. Didn't want to stop last night, so that's how good it's been. A friend hasread a tiny bit of it and said that it was interesting, the characters were believable and the story intriguing. I think all of that is good. :)

Writing writing writing
the writing is coming along very well now. I wrote just over a thousand words yesterday, only to delete a vast amount of the old stuff today, so I'm back to square one. BUT (don't start a sentence with but please) but, the work is far far better, and far more believable now. The characters are making more sense and taking on their own personalites.
Hoorah!

definitely writers' blog
Can't seem to put pen to paper right now. I feel like I've lost the plot. Maybe I should just open it up on word and write any old thing. a walk perhaps, ooo I just don't know. doesn't help that the physio this morning was really hard, and now my back hurts. mmmm

writing now, having to re-write major parts
because the Seton chappie I was after, was not the one who entertained the King at his house, well palace really. they were cousins, and the Seton I wanted was vastly inferior to Lord Robert.
Still that's sorted now, just having to rewrite the blinking thing in order to ensure it's correct.

get this weekend over with, and the writing will
commence with full force. I am itching to get on with it, now that I have completed certain areas of research. The trip to Edinburgh was well worth it, and I'm now on the way to completing the first draft ready for editing. YAYYYYYY

Research
Managed some excellent research in Edinburgh this week. we are now members of the National Library of Scotland and have partaken of their amazing facilities up there. People were very interested in my research and as a result they were extremely helpful.
thanks go to the wardens at Holyroodhouse Palace, the very helpful man at the Edinburgh museum, and also the very chatty man on the gate at Seton Collegiate Church.

A visit to Holyroodhouse Palace should see me write
yes a few days away in Scotland and a visit to Holyroodhouse Palace to put in place some of the missing parts of the jigsaw. It will be a flying visit, but the atmosphere should help me to put certain things into perspective which are missing at the moment.
I will be taking the laptop with me, and bashing out hopefully about a 1,000 words per day. Fingers crossed.
